Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight for its size
From maker's figures 8/10How much it adds to your pack for the amount it holds. 8: Clearly better than most.
Vargo's page text gives 117 g and 750 ml (96 x 105 mm). 117 g for 0.75 L = 156 g per litre, in the 150-219 g/L band. Ultralight Outdoor Gear lists 120 g (mug 100 g plus lid 20 g; 160 g per litre, same band). Vargo doesn't say what the 117 g includes, so its figure is kept as given.
Cooking and ease of use

In short
Good for
- Solo walkers who want one light titanium vessel for cooking a single meal and drinking tea or coffee
- Nesting a 100 g gas canister and small stove inside, or fitting over a 1 L wide-mouth bottle (Vargo; Ultralight Outdoor Gear)
- Draining pasta or rice through the lid's holes
Strengths
- 117 g for 0.75 L, 156 g per litre
- Strainer lid with a heat-resistant knob and foldaway handles
- Graduation marks stamped inside; mesh storage bag included
- Titanium with no coating to wear off
Weaknesses
- Lid fit has drawn complaints on older mugs: loose, and handles that fit differently between mugs (Trailspace, 2013)
- Titanium can have hot spots, so it suits boiling better than frying
- No independent report on the current version, so cooking and durability are estimates, not reviewed scores
