Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 4/10How much it adds to your pack. This is the whole tent: two people sharing can split it. 4: A bit below average.
Vango's spec table gives a trail weight of 2.29 kg (2.6 kg total with pegs and bags), in the 2.0–2.69 kg band. Vango's own text says 2.23 kg, Tiso 2.39 kg and Cotswold 2.4 kg, and the owner in the video weighed his at 2.5 kg: all in the same band.
Rain protection
From maker's figures 8/10How well it keeps out heavy, long rain. 8: Clearly better than most.
Fly 3,000 mm HH is the 3,000 mm+ band (the top band) and the floor is 6,000 mm, so no point comes off. The printed figure alone gives 8 at most: a 9 or 10 needs 3 reviews that say it stays dry in real storms.
Wind
Estimate from maker's specs: maker's season rating (fewer than 3 reviews about wind) 5/10How steady it stays in strong wind on open ground. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
No published review says how it copes with wind, so this is an estimate from the maker's season rating.
Space
From maker's figures 6/10Room to lie, sit up and keep kit inside. 6: A bit better than average.
Tiso's spec gives a 125 x 210 cm bedroom: 1.25 x 2.10 = 2.625 m² (2.63 m²), so 1.31 m² each for two, in the 1.15–1.34 band. Vango's own page gives no floor size.
Packed size
From maker's figures 6/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 6: A bit better than average.
Packs to 45 cm long x 15 cm across: 3.1416 x 7.5 x 7.5 x 45 = 7,952 cm³, so 7.95 L, in the 7-9.9 L band.
In short
Good for
- Warm nights: the inner can be pitched on its own
Strengths
- Two doors and two porches, so each person has an entry and gear space
- Inner can be pitched alone in warm weather
- Hubbed dome with a brow pole, 5 minutes to pitch according to Vango
- Alloy poles and reflective guylines
Weaknesses
- Inner pitches first, so it is awkward in rain
- Heavy for a two-person backpacking tent: 2.29 kg trail weight, 2.6 kg packed
- Only one owner video found, and it is a first-impressions review, so wind and long-term performance are unproven
- Weights vary by source: 2.23 kg in Vango's text, 2.29 kg in its spec table, 2.39–2.4 kg at Tiso and Cotswold; we use the spec table
