In short
Good for
- Backpackers who want a washable cover and a soft face fabric and accept about 160 g
- Side and back sleepers who like a shaped pillow that tucks into a sleeping bag hood
- Camping where weight matters less than a cover you can wash
Strengths
- Removable, machine-washable cover with synthetic fill and a non-slip base
- 10 cm tall baffled air core, shaped to fit a sleeping bag hood
- Soft brushed cover that feels warmer on the face than a bare plastic bladder
- Therm-a-Rest's lifetime warranty, which Justin Outdoors cites
Weaknesses
- 160 g is more than twice a lightweight air pillow such as the Air Head Lite
- Two of three testers found it bouncy and noisy, with too little cushion for the weight
- Old-style twist valve loses air while you close it, and takes more breaths than a multi-function valve
- Nothing attaches it to a mat, so it can slide out of a hooded bag overnight
- Maker gives no packed size in litres or centimetres
