Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 2/10How much it adds to your pack. This is the whole tent: two people sharing can split it. 2: A weak point.
Tatonka gives a minimum weight of 2.80 kg (3.1 kg packed), in the 2.7 kg+ band. OUTDOOR Magazin weighed its sample at 2,960 g, the same band.
Rain protection
From maker's figures 8/10How well it keeps out heavy, long rain. 8: Clearly better than most.
Fly 8,000 mm HH is in the 3,000 mm+ band, and the 10,000 mm floor is over 2,000 mm so nothing is taken off. Tatonka lists taped seams. The printed figure alone gives 8 at most: a 9 or 10 needs 3 reviews that say it stays dry in real storms.
Wind
Estimate: only 1 review about wind (fewer than the 3 we need, so never above 8) 8/10How steady it stays in strong wind on open ground. 8: Clearly better than most.
The wind-tunnel test reports no loss of space at 140 km/h both lengthways and across the tent. The score uses that held speed, rather than the higher speeds that flattened it or damaged poles.
Space
Estimate from maker's specs: inner floor area per person 4/10Room to lie, sit up and keep kit inside. 4: A bit below average.
Estimate from maker's specs
Packed size
From maker's figures 2/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 2: A weak point.
Packs to 55 cm long x 20 cm across: 3.1416 x 10 x 10 x 55 = 17,279 cm³, so 17.28 L, in the 15 L+ band. OUTDOOR Magazin measured 9.4 L, but we band the maker's figure.
In short
Good for
- Two people who want a big covered porch for kit and cooking out of the rain
- Long-stay pitches where weight matters less than shelter and weatherproofing
- Wet UK weather on a mid budget: 8,000 mm fly and 10,000 mm floor
Strengths
- Large vestibule with a side door (OUTDOOR Magazin measured 2.4 m²), enough to store wet kit and still cook under
- Fly 8,000 mm and floor 10,000 mm HH, with taped seams
- Inner and fly stay clipped together, and the inner can be unhooked to keep it dry when packing in rain
- Lab wind test (OUTDOOR Magazin 2023): stood to 140 km/h before the structure gave way
Weaknesses
- Heavy for two: 2.80 kg minimum (3.1 kg packed), 2.96 kg on OUTDOOR Magazin's scales
- Bulky: 55 x 20 cm packed, about 17 L
- Low inner height of 94 cm, falling towards the back (OUTDOOR Magazin)
- Peg loops can't be lengthened (OUTDOOR Magazin); at least 4 pegs needed, 18 in wind
- Only one independent test of this exact model found, and Alpinetrek is the only UK shop we could check
