Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Brightness
From maker's figures 8/10How much light it gives at full power, for finding your way in the dark. 8: Clearly better than most.
650 lumens on Max, from Suprabeam's factsheet, which says all its data is based on ANSI FL1: the 500–799 band. Max runs for 2 hours, so it is not a short burst. Older V3air models and some distributor pages (Uvex, Würth) give 320 or 450 lumens: those are earlier versions, not this part number (610.5211).
Runtime
From maker's figures 7/10How long one charge or set of batteries lasts at a level you can walk and cook by. 7: Better than most.
The factsheet gives 7 hours 30 minutes on Standard (140 lumens), the longest it gives for a mode of 80 lumens or more: the 6–9.9 h band. Max (650 lumens) lasts 2 hours, and the dimming range of 200 to 6 lumens runs from 4 hours 30 minutes to 125 hours.
Weight
From maker's figures 3/10How much it adds to your pack and your head. 3: Below average. Fine for some trips, not others.
The factsheet and spec table list 148 g with the battery, in the 110–149 g band. The headline figure on Suprabeam's product page is 126 g; that is also in the 110–149 g band, so the score is the same either way.
In short
Good for
- Night walking where you want a long-throw beam you can slide from flood to spot
- Trips where you want to carry a spare battery: the removable pack charges over USB-C
- Cold nights: Suprabeam rates it for use down to -20 °C
Strengths
- 650 lumens on Max for 2 hours (Suprabeam's ANSI FL1 figure), with a 210 m beam
- 7 hours 30 minutes at 140 lumens on Standard
- Sliding Hyperfocus optic: from a round flood to a long-range spot by sliding the lamp head
- Stepless dimming from 200 to 6 lumens, with brightness memory and a transport lock
- Removable 1400 mAh battery charges by USB-C, so a second pack can be carried
- Aluminium head, with a removable, washable headband that fits 50–70 cm
Weaknesses
- 148 g with the battery: heavy for its output
- IPX4: splash-proof only, not for a dunk
- No red light
- Max lasts only 2 hours, and there is no AAA back-up option
- No independent review of this version, so comfort and beam are estimates, not reviewed scores
