Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 4/10How much it adds to your pack. This is the whole tent: two people sharing can split it. 4: A bit below average.
Stoic gives 2,160 g, which it calls the packed weight (it includes the stuff sack, guylines, 16 pegs and repair kit). It is the only weight published, so we use it as the minimum weight: 2.0–2.69 kg band. The true minimum weight will be lower, so this may undersell it. Shared by two it is about 1.1 kg each.
Rain protection
From maker's figures 8/10How well it keeps out heavy, long rain. 8: Clearly better than most.
Flysheet 3,000 mm is in the 3,000 mm+ band, and the 5,000 mm floor is over 2,000 mm so no point comes off. The printed figure alone gives 8 at most: a 9 or 10 needs 3 reviews that say it stays dry in real storms.
Wind
Estimate from maker's specs: maker's season rating (fewer than 3 reviews about wind) 5/10How steady it stays in strong wind on open ground. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
No published review says how it copes with wind, so this is an estimate from the maker's season rating.
Space
From maker's figures 8/10Room to lie, sit up and keep kit inside. 8: Clearly better than most.
The shop's interior size is 225 cm long, 145 cm wide at the head and 125 cm at the foot. Average width 135 cm: 225 x 135 = 30,375 cm², or 3.04 m², which is 1.52 m² each for two people, in the 1.35–1.59 m² band. The sitting height is 90 cm.
Packed size
Estimate from maker's specs: tent weight (no packed size published) 4/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 4: A bit below average.
Estimate from maker's specs
In short
Good for
- Trips where sitting up inside matters: the pole gives a 90 cm sitting height
- Walkers who want a two-person tunnel tent that comes to about 1.1 kg each when shared
Strengths
- Roomy for two at 1.52 m² each, with a vestibule for packs
- Light for a two-person double-wall tent at 2,160 g with 16 pegs, guylines and stuff sack included
- A 3,000 mm silicone-coated flysheet and 5,000 mm floor, a good waterproof rating
- Two poles only (7075 aluminium, 8.5 mm, colour-coded), so pitching should be quick
Weaknesses
- No independent reviews of the 2P UL found, so wind, pitching and durability are estimates, not reviewed scores
- No packed size published, so we cannot score it
- Not freestanding: needs pegs and guylines
- Thin 20D nylon fabric: tear resistance is quoted as 9 kg, but there is no long-term wear data
- Only one door and one porch
