In short
Good for
- Walkers who want a little cushioning from a flexible-tip pole
- Day and weekend hill walking on a budget, one pole or a pair
- Someone who wants the MT500 lever lock with extra tip comfort
Strengths
- The tip slides into the pole by about 1 cm to soften impacts, using a silicone-foam ring rather than a noisy spring
- External lever lock with an automatic push-pin, 105 to 130 cm
- 7075-T6 and 6061-T6 aluminium, tungsten tip, summer basket supplied
Weaknesses
- The shock tip adds weight and length: 245 g a pole, 490 g a pair, and 58 cm collapsed
- No independent hands-on review of this new version was found, so scores for lock, grip and durability are missing
- Decathlon tags the page 'Last chance' (a clearance tag)
- Cushioning is small: about 1 cm of travel in the tip
- Belgian Hikers dislikes anti-shock poles in general (extra weight and flex, and you should not need cushioning), though it tested an older spring model
