Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Brightness
From maker's figures 7/10How much light it gives at full power, for finding your way in the dark. 7: Better than most.
600 lumens in Max mode (2 hours), in the 500-799 band. This is the maker's figure: Silva's Seek 600 page doesn't say the lumens are measured to ANSI FL1, so the page says "maker's figure" and the score is capped at the 4 band.
Runtime
From maker's figures 8/10How long one charge or set of batteries lasts at a level you can walk and cook by. 8: Clearly better than most.
The 100-lumen Min mode runs 8 hours on the built-in 1350 mAh battery (maker's figure), the longest mode of 80 lumens or more, in the 6-9.9 h band. Max 600 lumens lasts 2 hours and Med 300 lumens 3 hours; the 10-lumen Super-low mode runs 75 hours but is under 80 lumens, so it doesn't count.
Weight
From maker's figures 7/10How much it adds to your pack and your head. 7: Better than most.
Silva lists 70 g with the battery, in the 50-89 g band. Ultralight Outdoor Gear lists 72 g, the same band.
In short
Good for
- Night hikes and camping where 600 lumens is useful and weight still matters
- A rechargeable lamp with USB-C and no spare batteries to carry
- Use as a hand torch: the lamp unit comes off the headband
Strengths
- 600 lumens in Max mode (2 hours) and 300 lumens for 3 hours (Silva)
- 70 g with the battery
- IPX5, a lock function and a red light mode
- Detachable lamp unit with a slim 25 mm headband and a single buckle
Weaknesses
- Max mode lasts only 2 hours, and 8 hours is the longest run at 100 lumens or more
- IPX5 means rain is fine but it should not be dipped in water
- The 1350 mAh battery is built in, with no AAA backup, and the USB-C cable is not included
- No beam distance is published
- Comfort and beam are estimates, not reviewed scores: no independent reviews found yet
