Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 6/10How much it adds to your pack. This is the whole tent: two people sharing can split it. 6: A bit better than average.
Minimum weight 1.67 kg (UK shop spec tables and Outdoors Magic) sits in the 1.5-1.99 kg band; a US-model figure of about 1.53-1.57 kg lands in the same band.
Rain protection
From maker's figures 8/10How well it keeps out heavy, long rain. 8: Clearly better than most.
Fly rated 3,000 mm (UK 3000 version), in the 3,000 mm+ band; floor is also 3,000 mm so no point is taken off. The US model's fly is only 1,500 mm, so US reviews tell us nothing about rain. The printed figure alone gives 8 at most: a 9 or 10 needs 3 reviews that say it stays dry in real storms.
Wind
From reviews 7/10How steady it stays in strong wind on open ground. 7: Better than most.
Outdoors Magic (UK version) and The Big Outside (US model) had it standing firm once fully staked; OutdoorGearLab (US model) found the long vestibule sags and flaps and the fly hard to tension, so reviewers are 2 points apart. Only Outdoors Magic tested the UK 3000 version.
Reviewers disagree on this.
Space
From maker's figures 7/10Room to lie, sit up and keep kit inside. 7: Better than most.
2.79 m2 floor / 2 people = 1.395 m2 each, in the 1.35-1.59 band. It tapers (132 cm at the head, 114 cm at the foot), so it is snug for two.
Packed size
From maker's figures 6/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 6: A bit better than average.
Packs to 45.72 x 15 cm (length x diameter, a round stuff sack): 3.1416 x 7.5 x 7.5 x 45.72 = 8,079 cm³, so 8.1 L, in the 7-9.9 L band. Absolute Snow lists 17.1 cm across, which would be 10.5 L (band 2); S2AS and WildBounds say 15 cm, so we used that. The maker's own figure isn't confirmed, so this one rests on two shops.

3 reviews on pitching, e.g. "set up is simple and speedy, thanks to an intuitive two pole design.".
In short
Good for
- Two people sharing the weight on three-season UK hill and wild camps who don't mind a snug tent
- Solo campers who want a roomy, ventilated tent for under 2 kg
- Stealth-minded pitches: the UK version has an earth-tone green fly
Strengths
- Under 1.7 kg at minimum weight, so about 850 g each if two share it
- Quick two-pole pitch and a lot of mesh for airflow
- Fly rolls up or props up with trekking poles as an awning for cooking and shelter
- The UK 3000 version has solid fabric side panels on the inner for extra wind and warmth
Weaknesses
- Not freestanding: it needs pegs in the ground, so it is awkward on rock, gravel or frozen soil
- Tapers to 114 cm at the foot, so two wide mats are a squeeze
- One door and one small vestibule (0.82 m2) that blocks the way in and out when it holds kit
- Fly can be hard to pull really taut, and the long vestibule can flap in a crosswind
- Low, cocoon-like inside: reviewers report limited headroom away from the head end
