Our ratings (out of 10)

1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score

Weight

From maker's figures 4/10

How much it adds to your pack. This is the whole tent: two people sharing can split it. 4: A bit below average.

Robens' minimum weight is 2,120 g (2,250 g packed), in the 2.0–2.69 kg band. Shared by three people it is about 0.7 kg each.

Rain protection

From maker's figures 7/10

How well it keeps out heavy, long rain. 7: Better than most.

Flysheet 2,000 mm is in the 2,000–2,999 mm band, and the 5,000 mm floor is over 2,000 mm so no point comes off.

Wind

Estimate from maker's specs: maker's season rating (fewer than 3 reviews about wind) 5/10

How steady it stays in strong wind on open ground. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.

No published review says how it copes with wind, so this is an estimate from the maker's season rating.

Space

From maker's figures 4/10

Room to lie, sit up and keep kit inside. 4: A bit below average.

Robens' plan shows an inner 215 cm long, 170 cm wide at the head and 140 cm at the foot. Average width 155 cm: 215 x 155 = 33,325 cm², or 3.33 m², which is 1.11 m² each for three people, in the 0.95–1.14 m² band. Alpinetrek lists the inner as 215 x 170 cm, which would give 1.22 m² each, but 170 cm is only the widest end.

Packed size

From maker's figures 4/10

How much room it takes in your rucksack. 4: A bit below average.

Robens gives 47 x 17 cm (a stuff-sack cylinder): 3.1416 x 8.5 x 8.5 x 47 = 10,668 cm³, so 10.7 L, in the 10–14.9 L band.

In short

Good for

  • Three people sharing one lightweight tent on three-season trips, carrying about 0.7 kg each
  • Two people who want a free-standing tent with a porch each side and spare room for kit
  • Bikepacking or trekking groups: the poles come in short sections that fit panniers

Strengths

  • Free-standing: it stands without pegs, so you can pitch it on rock or move it once up
  • Two doors and two porches, so nobody climbs over anyone to get out
  • FlexPitch: use the inner alone as a bug shelter, the fly alone, or both together
  • 5,000 mm floor and a polyester flysheet that Robens says absorbs little water

Weaknesses

  • Snug for three: about 1.11 m² each, in the second-lowest space band
  • The 2,000 mm flysheet is lower than the best-rated tents
  • Robens lists it as pitching inner first, so the inner can get wet when pitched in a downpour
  • Mostly mesh inner, and a three-season rating only
  • Robens' own site lists an earlier nylon Seeker 3 LW as discontinued (item 130422, 2.2 kg, 45 x 14 cm); this file is the current polyester version (item 130438), so check the weight and packed size before buying
  • No independent reviews of this version found
