Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Warmth
From maker's figures 7/10How cold a night you can sleep comfortably through. 7: Better than most.
Comfort 0 °C (limit -6 °C, extreme -24 °C) sits in the -4.9 to 0 °C band. Rab's own 'sleep limit' of -9 °C is not the lab figure and isn't used. The shops name the test as 'ISO EN' without an edition, so we list it as EN 13537.
Room inside
Estimate from maker's specs: maker's shoulder girth (fewer than 3 reviews about room) 6/10How much room to move, bend your knees and sleep on your side. Roomier is comfier. 6: A bit better than average.
No review we found says how roomy it is, so this is an estimate from the maker's shoulder girth.
Weight
From maker's figures 7/10How much it adds to your pack. 7: Better than most.
915 g for the Regular sits in the 700–999 g band. (A shop page lists 1,005 g, which is the longer size.)
Packed size
From maker's figures 2/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 2: A weak point.
Packed size 35 x 23 cm, two figures so a stuff sack: 3.1416 x 11.5 x 11.5 x 35 = 14,541 cm³, so 14.5 L, in the 13 L+ band.
In short
Good for
- Spring and autumn hill camps and cold UK nights down to light frost
- Climbers and trekkers who want 800-fill down and a weather-resistant shell at under 1 kg
Strengths
- Warm for 915 g: comfort 0 °C, limit -6 °C
- 800-fill goose down with a Nikwax hydrophobic treatment, which the maker says keeps loft in damp air
- Pertex Quantum Pro shell is wind and shower resistant, per the maker
- Waterproof roll-top compression sack and a cotton storage sack in the box
Weaknesses
- Rab's UK page for it returned 'not found' on 19 October 2026 and shops sell it as a clearance item, so it looks to be on the way out (Rab now sells the Neutrino -6)
- Packs to about 14.5 L, which is a weak score for packed size
- No independent review of the Pro 500 found, so damp, comfort and durability are estimates, not reviewed scores
