Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 9/10How much it adds to your pack. 9: Among the best you can buy for this.
58 g (Primus) is under the 60 g line. Advnture weighed 57 g without the bag and 60 g with it.
Packed size
From maker's figures 8/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 8: Clearly better than most.
Primus gives 46 x 41 x 62 mm folded: 4.6 x 4.1 x 6.2 = 117 cm3, about 0.12 L, in the 0.08-0.19 L band.
Boil speed (still air)
Estimate from maker's specs: burner power figure (no boil time published) 5/10How fast the maker says it boils 1 litre in still air. Wind slows every stove: see Wind performance. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.

Wind performance
From reviews 6/10How well it keeps boiling in a breeze, as sold, without an extra windshield. 6: A bit better than average.
Reviewers split: The Great Outdoors lists poor wind resistance (fuel use doubled without a foil windscreen, though it always boiled); Advnture found 2 min 27 s sheltered became 2 min 50 s to 3 min 15 s in a strong wind and calls it susceptible to high winds; Outdoors Magic timed 2 min 33 s still and 2 min 45 s on a windy wet hill, thinks the mesh centre helps but still recommends a windscreen. None used the 3-6 km/h reference breeze.
Reviewers disagree on this.
In short
Good for
- Fastpacking and ultralight trips where every gram and litre of pack space counts
- Summer and three-season wild camps, mostly boiling water for meals and drinks
- Hikers who already own a small pot and want a very light stove for it
Strengths
- 58 g and about 0.12 L packed, one of the lightest and smallest gas stoves we cover
- Advnture timed 0.5 litre at 2 min 27 s sheltered, Outdoors Magic at 2 min 33 s, and The Great Outdoors lists 2 min 45 s
- Long, oversized valve handle that is easy to use with gloves and keeps fingers clear of the flame
- Wide serrated pot supports that click into place, and a nylon bag in the box
Weaknesses
- Poor in wind: The Great Outdoors saw fuel use double without a foil windscreen, and Advnture and Outdoors Magic both advise a windscreen
- Stands tall on a canister, so it is less stable with a big pot or on a small 100 g canister
- No regulator, so power fades as the canister empties or turns cold; not rated for winter use
- Primus's page gives no 1-litre boil time (only 'under four minutes'), so boil speed is an estimate, not a reviewed score
