Nortent Vern 2 review: tested in Eryri and the Lake District
Is the Nortent Vern 2 worth it for UK wild camping? For two people who want room and a tent that shrugs off wind and rain, yes. If you carry it far, its 4.3 kg will wear you down.
Nortent Vern 2 4S: 9 reviews combined, and we tested it in Eryri (Snowdonia) and the Lake District (Summer 2026).
Our verdict
Brilliant so far: roomy, very sturdy and easy to pitch, and it kept out strong wind and heavy rain. The catch is the weight, so it is not one for long walk-ins. We haven't used it in winter yet; its winter score comes from reviews and specs.

What we found
We bought a Vern 2 and used it for 2 to 4 nights at a time in Eryri and the Lake District in summer 2026, in gusts of about 48 km/h or more and heavy rain. It is the sturdiest tent we have used in strong wind, and one of the easiest to pitch. There is a lot of room inside, it stays warm for a tent, and the two porches mean one each.
Where the reviews agree with us
Most reviewers found it stable in moderate wind, from 16 to 48 km/h. Four of five found it easy to pitch: the poles are colour-coded and the tent stays low until you finish. The inner takes two 190 x 60 cm mats side by side.
Where they don't
Some reviewers are less sure in very strong wind. Andrew Park showed the end poles of the similar Vern 1 flattening above about 65 km/h unless a trekking pole props the end guy lines. Fellmandave's tent collapsed in a storm with the thinner first-batch poles; with the current poles he would trust it to about 80 km/h. Our own nights were rough but not that rough, so we can't settle it yet.
The catches
It weighs 4.3 kg at the least, and packs to 50 x 21 cm, which is 17.3 litres of rucksack. Split between two people it is about 2.2 kg each. It is 220 cm long inside, so people over about 1.9 m may touch both ends. The seams aren't sealed at the factory: Nortent includes sealer, and you should use it before the first trip.
Who should buy it
Two people on short walk-ins and base camps, where room and calm in bad weather matter more than weight. If you walk long days with it on your back, look at a lighter two-person tent instead.
