Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Warmth
From maker's figures 4/10How well it stops the cold ground chilling you. 4: A bit below average.
Nemo's R-value of 2.8 (labelled ASTM F3340-18 on its product page) sits in the R 2–2.9 band: summer and mild three-season nights. CleverHiker advises mild to warm nights only.
Thickness
From maker's figures 8/10How deep it is. Deeper is comfier, above all for side sleepers. 8: Clearly better than most.
8.9 cm thick.
Quietness
From reviews 10/10How little it crinkles or squeaks when you turn over. 10: The best you can buy for this.
All four reviewers say the Tensor Trail is quiet, with no crinkle when you roll over.
Weight
From maker's figures 9/10How much it adds to your pack. 9: Among the best you can buy for this.
Nemo's 395 g minimum weight for the Regular is under the 400 g line. Ultralight Outdoor Gear lists 402 g ex bag and pump, which would be band 4. With pump sack and patch kit it is 477 g.
Packed size
From maker's figures 8/10How much room it takes in or on your rucksack. 8: Clearly better than most.
Packs to a roll 25.5 cm long and 9.5 cm across: 3.1416 x 4.75 x 4.75 x 25.5 = 1,808 cm³, about 1.8 L, in the 1.5–2.4 L band.
What reviewers say (out of 10)

Reviewers' average 8/10How comfy it is, including for side sleepers.
4 reviews on comfort, e.g. "That's right side sleepers – no bottoming out!".
Stability*

1 review on stability, e.g. "any movement toward the edge required recentering.".
In short
Good for
- Summer and mild three-season wild camps where weight matters
- Side sleepers who want a thick pad at under 400 g
- Light sleepers: the floating film does not crinkle
- Pairing with a closed-cell mat for colder nights
Strengths
- Only 395 g for a full-length 8.9 cm thick pad, and about 1.8 L packed
- Quiet: the floating metallised film does not crinkle
- Boxy baffles give a stable surface without the wobble of some air pads
- Pump sack, patch kit and an adjustable zero-profile valve in the box
- 20D top with a 40D base is tougher than many pads of this weight
Weaknesses
- R 2.8 is not warm: reviewers say mild nights only, and cold sleepers should add a foam mat
- The Regular is 51 cm wide, which Backpacker found narrow for its thickness: the Regular Wide is more stable
- The Trek found reports of slow leaks early in some pads' lives, so use a footprint on rough ground
- An air pad gives no insulation or cushioning once punctured, unlike a foam-filled pad
