Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 7/10How much it adds to your pack. This is the whole tent: two people sharing can split it. 7: Better than most.
Nemo's minimum weight of 1.26 kg is in the 1.0–1.49 kg band (1.49 kg packed with pegs and sack).
Rain protection
From maker's figures 3/10How well it keeps out heavy, long rain. 3: Below average. Fine for some trips, not others.
Fly 1,500 mm is in the 1,500–1,999 band, band 3 (5 out of 10), then one band lower because the floor is only 1,500 mm, under 2,000 mm. Ellis Brigham's listing gives the floor as 2,000 mm but Tiso and SectionHiker both say 1,500 mm, so we band the lower figure. Reviewers found the fly shed heavy rain well.
Wind
Estimate from maker's specs: maker's season rating (fewer than 3 reviews about wind) 5/10How steady it stays in strong wind on open ground. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
No published review says how it copes with wind, so this is an estimate from the maker's season rating.
Space
From maker's figures 7/10Room to lie, sit up and keep kit inside. 7: Better than most.
Nemo's 2.7 m² floor ÷ 2 people = 1.35 m² each, which is the bottom of the 1.35–1.59 band. The floor tapers from 127 cm wide at the head to 114 cm at the foot, and SectionHiker says it cannot fit two 64 cm-wide rectangular mats (tapered ones fit).
Packed size
From maker's figures 7/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 7: Better than most.
Packs to about 50 x 14 x 9 cm (Ellis Brigham lists 50 x 14 cm; Better Trail gives 49.5 x 14 x 9 cm): 50 x 14 x 9 = 6,300 cm³, so 6.3 L, in the 4–6.9 L band.
What reviewers say (out of 10)
Ratings marked * are from reviews and are not part of the trip score. They are reviewers' scores, not our own measurements. How we score
Pitching*
Reviewers' average 8/10How quickly and easily one person can pitch it, including in wind and rain.
6 reviews on pitching, e.g. "quick to set up and a trustworthy shelter in wind and rain".
Condensation*
Reviewers' average 8/10How dry it stays inside on still, damp nights; higher is drier.
3 reviews on condensation, e.g. "experience any condensation inside this tent".
In short
Good for
- Two people who want a light freestanding tent with good headroom for three-season trips
- Backpackers who want two doors, two porches and lots of internal storage at about 1.3 kg
- Summer and shoulder-season camps in sheltered to moderately exposed spots
Strengths
- 1.26 kg minimum weight for a freestanding double-wall tent with two doors and two vestibules
- 2026 crossbar design adds about a third more volume at the head, near-vertical walls and a 102 cm peak height
- Quick colour-coded pitch on one hubbed pole; easy to pitch alone
- Landing Zone tub in one porch keeps a pack off wet ground
- Lots of storage: gear loft, pockets, light-diffusing headlamp pocket
- Osmo fabric sheds water and sags less when wet than standard polyester, per Nemo
Weaknesses
- Floor is only 1,500 mm (fly also 1,500 mm), low for wet UK ground: use a footprint on soaked pitches
- Light-duty 15D fly and 20D floor need careful pitch choice
- Tapered floor, so two wide rectangular mats don't fit
- Only one Landing Zone tub is supplied, not two
- Corner pole hardware is fiddly and has plastic parts that reviewers question for long-term use
- Only two reviews test wind, so wind stability is an estimate, not a reviewed score
