Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 6/10How much it adds to your pack. This is the whole tent: two people sharing can split it. 6: A bit better than average.
Nemo's minimum weight of 1.51 kg is just inside the 1.5–1.99 kg band (1.8 kg packed). SectionHiker measured the minimum at about 1.44 kg and Outdoors Magic gives 1.78 kg for the whole tent.
Rain protection
From maker's figures 5/10How well it keeps out heavy, long rain. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
Fly 1,500 mm is the 1,500–1,999 band, band 3 (5 out of 10); the 2,000 mm floor takes nothing off.
Wind
From reviews 8/10How steady it stays in strong wind on open ground. 8: Clearly better than most.
CleverHiker, Outdoors Magic, Switchback Travel, Better Trail and the Outdoor Empire testers all praise the freestanding frame and many guy points. Switchback's tent stayed upright through an all-night thunderstorm, Better Trail found it secure and planted once guyed out, and an Outdoor Empire tester slept through a night of strong, gusty wind without trouble. Not a four-season tent.
Space
From maker's figures 7/10Room to lie, sit up and keep kit inside. 7: Better than most.
Nemo's 2.8 m² inner floor ÷ 2 people = 1.4 m² each, in the 1.35–1.59 band; the 224 x 127 cm rectangle takes two wide mats side by side.
Packed size
From maker's figures 6/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 6: A bit better than average.
Packs to 51 x 16 x 9 cm: 51 x 16 x 9 = 7,344 cm³, so 7.34 L, in the 7–9.9 L band.

Reviewers disagree on this.
In short
Good for
- Two people who want room to sit up and two wide mats inside for backpacking trips of a few nights
- One tent for both backpacking and car camping, with the weight split between two people
- Spring to autumn wild camps, including exposed spots in normal British three-season weather
Strengths
- Spacious and fully freestanding, with near-vertical walls, a 109 cm peak and a 224 cm long inner
- Two doors and two large vestibules of about 1.1 m² each, with a 'landing zone' mat that keeps kit off wet ground
- Quick, forgiving pitch: one pole, colour-coded, and you can move the tent before pegging it
- OSMO fabric is made to stretch less than silicone nylon when wet, so the fly stays taut after rain
- Sturdy build with good zips, clips and pegs, and reviewers trust it in gusty weather
Weaknesses
- Heavy for a two-person backpacking tent: 1.51 kg minimum and 1.8 kg packed
- Bulky when packed (7.34 L), with a long, multi-section pole
- Inner goes up first, so it is awkward to pitch in rain, and only 8 pegs come in the box (reviewers suggest a few more)
- Small vents: larger ones would help in humid conditions, and the fly door hangs close to the entrance in heavy rain
- Not a four-season tent, and Nemo does not publish the fabric thickness
- A guy cord at the base of a door snapped in moderate wind on Switchback Travel's test tent
