Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 3/10How much it adds to your pack. This is the whole tent: two people sharing can split it. 3: Below average. Fine for some trips, not others.
Naturehike gives 2.5 kg and doesn't say whether that is the minimum or the packed weight; either way it is in the 2.0-2.69 kg band unless the bare tent is over 500 g lighter.
Rain protection
From maker's figures 7/10How well it keeps out heavy, long rain. 7: Better than most.
Naturehike's spec table gives a 2,000 mm fly and a 3,000 mm floor, in the 2,000-2,999 mm band; the floor is over 2,000 mm, so nothing is taken off. Its text and Decathlon's seller copy say the waterproofing is 3,000 mm, which would be a 5, so we use the lower figure.
Wind
Estimate from maker's specs: maker's season rating (fewer than 3 reviews about wind) 5/10How steady it stays in strong wind on open ground. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
No published review says how it copes with wind, so this is an estimate from the maker's season rating.
Space
Estimate from maker's specs: berths and tent shape (no floor area published) 5/10Room to lie, sit up and keep kit inside. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
Estimate from maker's specs
Packed size
From maker's figures 6/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 6: A bit better than average.
Packs to 47 x 15 x 15 cm, which we read as a roll (two equal smaller sizes): 3.1416 x 7.5 x 7.5 x 47 = 8,306 cm3, so 8.31 L, in the 7-9.9 L band. As a box it would be 10.6 L, a 2.
In short
Good for
- Two campers on a very small budget for summer trips and short walks
- Car-based or cycle trips where 2.5 kg does not matter
Strengths
- Two doors, two vents and a full mesh inner for airflow
- X-cross aluminium pole frame, quick to pitch (Naturehike)
- The doors can be propped as awnings with trekking poles (not included)
Weaknesses
- 2.5 kg is heavy for a 'backpacking' tent (about 1.25 kg each)
- Fly 2,000 mm HH in Naturehike's spec table, 3,000 mm in its text: the brand's pages disagree
- Floor 3,000 mm HH on a 150D Oxford base
- No independent test found, so wind, pitching and durability are estimates, not reviewed scores
- Inner size isn't stated, so space is an estimate, not a reviewed score
- Naturehike's global shop also lists a 'Cloud River Pro', a different tent
