Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight for its size
From maker's figures 4/10How much it adds to your pack for the amount it holds. 4: A bit below average.
MSR's description says 116 g and its specs table gives 0.12 kg and 0.375 L. We band the heavier 120 g: 120 g for 0.375 L = 320 g per litre, in the 300-449 g/L band; 116 g would be 310 g per litre, also a 2. Bikepacking.com weighed its sample at 114 g and Ultralight Outdoor Gear lists 118 g, all band 2. MSR doesn't say whether its weight includes the lid.

In short
Good for
- Hot drinks you want to stay hot for the 20 to 30 minutes it takes to pack up camp (Bikepacking.com)
- A drinking mug to go with a Titan Kettle 900 mL, which it nests inside (MSR)
- Walkers who want a lid to cut splashes and keep heat in
Strengths
- Double wall keeps drinks hot longer than single-wall titanium (Bikepacking.com)
- Plastic lid keeps heat in and cuts splashes (MSR)
- Nests inside the Titan Kettle 900 mL and 1400 mL (MSR)
- Titanium, so there is no coating to wear off
Weaknesses
- Heavy for its size at 320 g per litre, score 4
- Heat retention is modest next to a vacuum tumbler (Bikepacking.com)
- Awkward to pack inside anything except the Titan Kettle 900 (Bikepacking.com)
- Elite Mountain Supplies lists it as 345 ml, while MSR says 375 ml (same barcode)
