Weight

In short

Good for

  • Mountaineering and ice or mixed climbing in cold conditions, and long spells standing still in the cold

Strengths

  • 269 g (size L) of 90/10 duck down at 700 fill power
  • Dual-layer offset baffles and a reflective internal scrim that Mountain Equipment says remove cold spots at the seams
  • Drilite Loft 40D outer that the maker calls completely windproof and highly weather-resistant
  • Insulated, helmet-compatible hood; two hand, two chest and three internal pockets

Weaknesses

  • The DWR finish only sheds rain and snow to keep the outer drier for longer
  • Care label says use specialist down cleaner and tumble dry cool
