In short
Good for
- Day walks and trail runs: 102 g and collapses as you drink
- A back-up filter on top of a main bottle filled from a safe source
- Squeezing filtered water into a pot or another bottle
- Wild camping trips with frequent water sources
Strengths
- 102 g for a 650 ml bottle and filter
- Collapses small and doubles as a straw, a squeeze bottle or a bottle-less filter
- Meets US EPA and NSF P231 for bacteria and parasites (LifeStraw)
- Rated to 2,000 L, with a backwash syringe included
- The Peak Squeeze (tested mainly as the 1 L kit) is number one of 20 filters in OutdoorGearLab's October 2026 test
Weaknesses
- Flow slows if you do not backflush often; Better Trail's team found it slowed to a crawl over time
- Does not remove viruses
- Not safe after freezing: LifeStraw's manual says not to use or expose it to temperatures below 0 °C
- The cap dangles when squeezing and there is no carry handle for filling in a current
- The 650 ml size is small for long gaps between water sources (Advnture suggests the 1 L)
- LifeStraw publishes no flow rate
