Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Brightness
From maker's figures 10/10How much light it gives at full power, for finding your way in the dark. 10: The best you can buy for this.
Ledlenser gives 1,000 lumens in the Standard Power mode (3 hours), and its UK FAQ says it measures its lights to ANSI/FL1 (the product page doesn't repeat it): the 800+ band. The 2,000-lumen boost is described as a short burst and is not counted.
Runtime
From maker's figures 8/10How long one charge or set of batteries lasts at a level you can walk and cook by. 8: Clearly better than most.
The 250-lumen Mid Power mode runs 8 hours on the 4600 mAh battery (Ledlenser's figure), in the 6–9.9 h band. The 1,000-lumen mode lasts 3 hours; the 20-lumen low mode runs 100 hours but is under 80 lumens, so it doesn't count.
Weight
From maker's figures 1/10How much it adds to your pack and your head. 1: A real weak point.
Ledlenser lists 283 g including the battery, in the 150 g and over band (Knives and Tools gives 285 g).
