Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 8/10How much it adds to your pack. 8: Clearly better than most.
GSI's page shows no weight, but its product data lists 68 g, matching Justin Reviews's scale reading of 68 g and the figure gideonstactical quotes. Ultralight Outdoor Gear lists 66 g. All sit in the 60-119 g band.
Packed size
From maker's figures 7/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 7: Better than most.
GSI gives 'Dimensions' of 5.3 x 4.1 x 7.6 cm without the word folded. They can only be the folded stove, because its open pot supports span 138 mm, and Justin Reviews gives about 7.6 cm tall folded. As a box: 5.3 x 4.1 x 7.6 = 165 cm3, about 0.165 L, in the 0.08-0.19 L band.
Boil speed (still air)
From maker's figures 3/10How fast the maker says it boils 1 litre in still air. Wind slows every stove: see Wind performance. 3: Below average. Fine for some trips, not others.
GSI's average boil time is 3 min 30 s for 0.5 L, scaled to 420 s for 1 litre, in the 300-479 s band. GSI gives no water temperature or wind. Justin Reviews boiled 0.35 L in about 3 minutes at sea level; gideonstactical found it about 30 seconds faster than a PocketRocket 2 per 0.47 L.
Wind performance
Estimate from maker's specs: windshield in the box 3/10How well it keeps boiling in a breeze, as sold, without an extra windshield. 3: Below average. Fine for some trips, not others.

In short
Good for
- Solo ultralight and fastpacking trips where grams and pack space count
- Summer and three-season trips, mostly boiling water for meals and drinks
- Walkers who use GSI's nForm cookware, which the folded stove fits inside
Strengths
- 68 g and about 0.165 L packed, with a stove bag in the box
- GSI rates it at about 2,820 W with a micro control valve, and 138 mm serrated pot supports that take bigger pots
- Justin Reviews boiled 0.35 L in about 3 minutes at sea level, and gideonstactical found it about 30 seconds faster than a PocketRocket 2 per 0.47 L
- GSI backs its products with a lifetime warranty
Weaknesses
- No built-in igniter: carry a lighter
- No regulator, so output fades as the canister gets cold or low; not for winter use
- The gideonstactical review found the pot support arms loose and rattling, and the stove laboured in a breeze (the PocketRocket 2 has a windclip, this one has none)
- No wind or simmer figure from a test of this model, so those two scores are estimates, not reviewed scores
