In short
Good for
- Walkers who want poles that fold small enough to live inside a day pack or carry-on bag
- Travellers and trail runners who put poles away often on climbs or at stiles
- General hill walking when 550 g a pair is acceptable
Strengths
- Folds to 36 cm (about 6 x 6 cm), much smaller than the 56 to 58 cm telescopic poles in the range
- Strong 7075-T6 aluminium in 20/18/16/16/16 mm tubes; Day Hiker From the Six found it very sturdy with little vibration
- External lever lock sets any length from 110 to 130 cm
- Hook-and-loop strap is simple and easy to adjust; it never loosened for Day Hiker From the Six
- 2-year warranty, with spare parts sold separately; summer basket included
Weaknesses
- Heavy at 275 g a pole, 550 g a pair, the bottom of the 550-699 g band
- The lever screw needs checking and keeping tight: Day Hiker From the Six had it fail once when loose
- Some Decathlon buyers report sections coming apart in use, and one says the pole collapsed repeatedly on a Camino trek
- Folding sections add some flex compared with simple telescopic poles (Belgian Hikers)
- Minimum length is 110 cm, so it can't be shortened as far as the 105 cm and 100 cm poles
- No rubber caps or winter baskets in the box (sold separately, per Belgian Hikers)
