In short
Good for
- Hikers who want to set the length exactly, for example to pitch a trekking-pole tent
- Someone who only wants one pole, or has broken one and needs a single replacement
Strengths
- External lever lock sets the length exactly anywhere from 105 to 130 cm
- 240 g per pole (480 g a pair) from 7075-T6 and 6061-T6 aluminium
- Collapses to 56 cm in 3 sections
- Tungsten tip and summer basket supplied; spare tips, baskets and lower sections are sold separately
- 2-year warranty; Belgian Hikers picked it as the best buy for most people from the Decathlon range
Weaknesses
- Middle of the pack on weight: 480 g a pair, and 56 cm folded is longer than folding poles
- Does not fold small enough for a small day pack; Belgian Hikers says only the MT900 does
- Foam grip with a basic strap; no rubber caps or winter baskets in the box (sold separately, per Belgian Hikers)
- Maximum length is 130 cm, short for very tall walkers
- One Decathlon buyer reports the pole sometimes will not lock and slides up
- Scores for lock, grip and durability are missing because too few independent reviews exist
