Estimate from maker's specs
Boil speed (still air)
From maker's figures 9/10How fast the maker says it boils 1 litre in still air. Wind slows every stove: see Wind performance. 9: Among the best you can buy for this.
Decathlon says 3 min 05 s (its spec text also says 3 min 04 s), so 185 s for 1 litre, under the 190 s line. The slower figure is used.
Wind performance
From reviews 7/10How well it keeps boiling in a breeze, as sold, without an extra windshield. 7: Better than most.
Backpacking UK says it works really well in the wind and The outdoor dog and hiking girl says its raised burner guard handles higher winds, both untimed; Wandereisvogel calls the ring round the burner a windbreak, not a storm shelter. None timed it in the 3-6 km/h reference breeze.
In short
Good for
- Summer and three-season trips with a medium pot, such as the Forclaz Trek 500 steel pots
- Walkers who want wide pot supports rather than the lightest possible stove
Strengths
- Decathlon quotes 3 min 05 s for 1 litre, under the 190 s line
- Built-in piezo igniter and a windguard ring around the burner
- Wide pot supports that hold bigger pots better than ultralight stoves (Backpacking UK, Wandereisvogel)
- Output 2,750 W
Weaknesses
- Bulky for a backpacking stove: one reviewer found it would not fit inside a 750 ml titanium pot
- The piezo lit only about half the time for one reviewer, so carry a lighter
- One reviewer says it is less solid than a Pocket Rocket when screwing it onto a canister
- No regulator, so not for winter use
- Packed size cannot be scored, because Decathlon gives only two of the three folded measurements
