Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 8/10How much the pair adds to your hands and pack. 8: Clearly better than most.
Fizan's Summer 2026 catalogue gives 175 g for the Compact Pro, against 158 g for the plain Compact on the same pages. Neither the catalogue nor Fizan's page says in words whether that is one pole or a pair. The catalogue prints each weight beside a single drawn pole, in the same layout as the Compact, which it calls the world's lightest telescopic pole at 'only 158 grams'; Kaviso, a US shop, lists the Pro at 175 g per pole, and 175 g for a pair would be an impossible 88 g a pole. So it is doubled to 350 g for the pair: the 300-449 g band. Ultralight Outdoor Gear lists 166 g a pole (332 g a pair), the same band; Fizan's figure is the one scored.
Packed size
From maker's figures 6/10Whether they fit inside or along a rucksack. 6: A bit better than average.
Fizan gives 59 cm closed (59-132 cm range on its page and catalogue): the 55-64.9 cm band.
In short
Good for
- Walkers who like a long foam grip to choke down on for steep ground
- Backpacking on a budget, with 132 cm maximum for most trekking-pole tents
Strengths
- 350 g a pair (175 g a pole, Fizan)
- Long EVA foam grip for more hand positions on climbs (Fizan)
- 7001 aluminium shafts that bend before they break (CleverHiker, of the Compact)
- 59 cm closed, with two baskets (35 and 50 mm), tip covers and carbide tips
Weaknesses
- Twist lock: the plastic expanders can slip or fail to catch when dusty or frozen, and reviewers of the Compact expect them to wear over time
- 17 g a pole heavier than the plain Compact (175 g against 158 g, Fizan)
- 59 cm closed does not fit a small pack
- No independent test of the Compact Pro itself: the lock score comes from tests of the Compact, and the grip and durability scores are blank
- Reviewers of the Compact disagree on the lock
