Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 3/10How much it adds to your pack. 3: Below average. Fine for some trips, not others.
Fire-Maple gives 600 g on both its UK and US pages, in the 450-649 g band. DUANEger Zone weighed 603.4 g with the mesh bag and pot support, and 511.7 g without them.
Fuel use
Estimate from maker's specs: fuel type (no fuel use figure published) 5/10How much fuel it burns to boil a litre in calm air: less fuel to carry. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.

Boil speed (calm air)
From maker's figures 9/10How fast the maker says it boils 1 litre in calm air. 9: Among the best you can buy for this.
Fire-Maple's UK page gives 1 min 42 s for 0.5 L, doubled to 204 s for 1 litre (scaled), under the 210 s line. The pot holds 0.8 L, so a full litre cannot be boiled in one go.
In short
Good for
- Solo walkers who want a 0.8 litre boil-in-the-pot system for a hot drink and one freeze-dried meal
- Three-season trips where a built-in igniter and a pot under 650 g matter more than speed
- Anyone who wants the pot support and canister stand included
Strengths
- Locking handle that makes pouring a pour-over coffee easy (That Hiking Guy); DUANEger Zone prefers it to the Jetboil strap
- Pot support and canister stand come in the box, so a pan or kettle can be used
- Push-button igniter, neoprene sleeve and a mesh bag
- Fire-Maple's US page says the burner, pot support, canister stand and a 110 g canister nest inside
Weaknesses
- Slower than a Jetboil Flash: DUANEger Zone took 2 min 46 s for 2 cups against 1 min 48 s
- DUANEger Zone could not fit a fuel canister into the pot with the burner, although Fire-Maple says a 110 g one nests
- The 0.8 litre pot is too small to share a meal and a drink
- 600 g, not light for one person
- Unregulated, so power drops as the canister cools; Fire-Maple's US FAQ for the X2 says this burner suits three-season use, so we mark it not winter-ready
- Fire-Maple states no fuel use per litre, so we cannot score fuel use
