Waterproofing
From maker's figures 4/10How well they keep your hands dry and the wind out, from how they are made. 4: A bit below average.
Extremities' own X-Dry technology, described as 'waterproof and breathable', with no mm figure and no statement that the insert is sealed. The method's 4 band needs a sealed waterproof insert and doesn't band gloves by mm, so a stated HH figure doesn't change the band: a glove with its own membrane and no statement that the insert is sealed is the 2 band, the same call as the OEX Summit Waterproof Gloves. The page's 'Waterproof Guaranteed' badge reads 'Fully Sealed Flysheet & Groundsheet Seams': that is tent copy, not a glove claim, so it isn't used. It would be the 4 band if Extremities said the insert is sealed.
In short
Good for
- Winter hillwalking and everyday cold, wet days when you want a waterproof, insulated glove with a leather palm
- Hill days when palm durability matters, as Extremities specifies 65% leather on the palm
- Using a phone with the gloves on
Strengths
- X-Dry waterproof and breathable technology with PrimaLoft Gold Eco insulation
- Leather palm (65% leather) for grip and durability
- Leather Velcro wrist adjuster and touchscreen-compatible fingertips
- Four sizes (S to XL)
- One-year guarantee from Extremities
Weaknesses
- No weight from Extremities (its 663 g is an error), so there is no weight score
- No insulation amount stated, so warmth can't be compared on numbers
- No independent review found, so warmth, dexterity and durability scores are blank
- Extremities' membrane is its own and not stated as sealed, so waterproofing scores 4
