Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Waterproof build
From maker's figures 6/10How well its build keeps water out, from the published seams, closure and submersion claim. 6: A bit better than average.
Roll-top closure with a quick-release buckle and seams that Exped's feature list and materials call taped. Exped UK's description also says seam-welded, so its pages disagree; we use the more cautious taped. Exped says it is not submersible and makes no submersion claim: the 3 band.
Weight for its size
From maker's figures 9/10How much it adds to your pack for the space it protects. 9: Among the best you can buy for this.
77 g for 22 L is 3.5 g/L, under 4.0 g/L (Exped UK's spec table). Ultralight Outdoor Gear lists 79 g (3.6 g/L) and Exped UK's product data 78 g: the same band either way.
In short
Good for
- A sturdier organiser than an ultralight dry bag for clothes, food or sleep gear inside a rucksack
- Colour-coding kit: seven sizes, each its own colour
- Not for river crossings or anything that may go under water
Strengths
- 77 g for 22 L (3.5 g/L)
- Recycled 70D nylon, tougher than Exped's 20D Drybag Ultra
- Seam-taped, with a roll-top and quick-release buckle
- White inner coating makes contents easy to see
- Grab handle at the base and a shaped bottom that packs well
Weaknesses
- Exped says it is not submersible
- Exped's pages disagree on seams (taped in the features, welded in the description), so we use taped
- No independent tests found, so durability and ease are estimates, not reviewed scores
