Our ratings (out of 10)

1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score

Weight for its size

From maker's figures 9/10

How much it adds to your pack for the amount it holds. 9: Among the best you can buy for this.

Evernew gives 75 g and 550 ml (with scale) on both its global and its Japanese pages, so 550 ml is the brand figure. 75 g / 0.55 L = 136 g per litre, in the under-150 g/L band. The '500' is only part of the product name: no Evernew page states 500 ml as the capacity. At 500 ml the figure would be 150 g per litre, band 4: Outdoor Gearzine's comparison table prints 500 ml and says it holds about 600 ml brim-full. Evernew does not say whether the 75 g includes the lid, so the brand figure is kept as given; Outdoor Gearzine says the 75 g is with the lid, and Ultralight Outdoor Gear says it excludes the stuff sack.

In short

Good for

  • Solo walkers who boil water for freeze-dried or noodle meals and hot drinks
  • Pouring cleanly into a meal pouch or a cup
  • Using with Evernew’s DX stand and alcohol-stove sets, whose rim matches the pot’s base ridge (Ultralight Outdoor Gear, quoting Evernew)

Strengths

  • 75 g for 550 ml: 136 g per litre (Evernew)
  • Pouring spout for pouring into meal pouches (Evernew; Outdoor Gearzine)
  • Base ridge made to fit the Evernew DX stand (Ultralight Outdoor Gear, quoting Evernew)
  • Volume marks inside, and a small 110 g gas cartridge fits in the pot (Evernew)

Weaknesses

  • The handle gets hot (Outdoor Gearzine)
  • A 110 g canister plus a stove do not both fit in the pot (Outdoor Gearzine)
  • Named 500 but Evernew states 550 ml; at 500 ml its weight score would be 4 not 5
  • Cooking and durability are estimates, not reviewed scores: only one independent source
