Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 9/10How much it adds to your pack. 9: Among the best you can buy for this.
The burner alone is not ready to cook on, so we count it with Evernew's own pot support. Evernew gives 34 g for the burner (no stand in the box) and 16 g for the EBY253 cross stand, 50 g together, under the 60 g line. Ultralight Outdoor Gear lists the burner at 36 g (shop figure), 52 g with the stand, the same band.
Packed size
From maker's figures 7/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 7: Better than most.
Evernew gives 71 mm across and 42 mm high. Worked as a cylinder 7.1 cm across and 4.2 cm high: 3.14 x 3.55 x 3.55 x 4.2 = 166 cm3, about 0.166 L, in the 0.08-0.19 L band. Without a stand.
Boil speed (still air)

In short
Good for
- Solo and short trips where weight and pack space matter: 34 g and about 7 cm across
- Boiling water for drinks and dehydrated meals in a pot of 0.4 L or so
- Anyone who wants a robust titanium burner with fuel marks inside, to measure the fuel accurately
Strengths
- 34 g (Evernew), 36 g on the UK shop's page
- Titanium, made in Japan, with a glass wool wick inside the burner (Evernew)
- Two rows of flame holes, top and bottom, for an even flame (Ultralight Outdoor Gear)
- 30 ml and 60 ml fuel marks inside the 70 ml bowl make filling repeatable (Evernew)
- Evernew's own figure: 400 ml boiled with 30 ml of alcohol within 5 minutes; Hiram Cook boiled two cups in 5 min 27 s
Weaknesses
- A burner only: it needs a pot stand, which Evernew and the UK shop sell separately (cross stand EBY253 or the DX stand)
- No windscreen in the box and no flame control on the cross stand (Hiram Cook); his long low burn with the pot straight on the burner is not a use Evernew describes
- Evernew gives no 1 litre boil time, and no review we found tests it in wind or scores its stability, so those scores are blank
- Evernew says it is for alcohol fuel only
