Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight for its size
From maker's figures 9/10How much it adds to your pack for the water it holds. 9: Among the best you can buy for this.
Cnoc's page says 67 g for 1 L: 67 g per litre, under 100 g/L. Its shop data lists 57 g, and Cnoc's own earlier page and Ultralight Outdoor Gear say 60 g; we use the heaviest figure, and all band 5.
Packed size (empty)
From maker's figures 8/10How much room it takes up when it is empty, for the water it holds. 8: Clearly better than most.
Cnoc gives a packed size of 10 x 7.4 x 7.4 cm: two equal smaller sides, so a roll 10 cm long and 7.4 cm across. 3.1416 x 3.7 x 3.7 x 10 = 430 cm³, so 0.43 L empty for 1 L held, in the 0.3–0.69 band. Cnoc's earlier page and Ultralight Outdoor Gear print 10 x 5 x 5 cm (0.20 L, band 5); we use the current figure, which scores lower.
In short
Good for
- A 1 L bottle that stands up when full and packs to 0.43 L when empty
- A dirty-water bottle for a 28 mm squeeze filter such as the Sawyer Squeeze, Mini or Micro
- Backup capacity on long dry stretches
Strengths
- 67 g for 1 L (67 g per litre), under the 100 g/L line for the top weight score
- Stiff top and base, so it stands when full or filled with air (Cnoc)
- 28 mm thread fits Sawyer, LifeStraw Flex and HydroBlu filters (Cnoc)
- Tethered cap and a pull string near the cap for side pockets (Cnoc)
- Packs to a 10 cm roll (10 x 7.4 x 7.4 cm)
Weaknesses
- Two hands to drink from, and it folds in where you hold it as it empties (Backpacker Luke)
- Cnoc rates it from -6 °C to 100 °C but advises staying near 80 °C for hot liquids; Ultralight Outdoor Gear still prints 60 °C
- TPU is porous, so Cnoc says it is not completely smell-free when new: wash and air it first
- Both UK shops still print Cnoc's older figures (60 g, 10 x 5 x 5 cm), so check which bottle you receive
- Only two UK shops found
- Only one test of this version found, so ease of use and durability are estimates, not reviewed scores
