In short
Good for
- Belaying and cold-day climbing, which Arc'teryx designed it for (two-way front zip for harness access, internal dump pockets)
- Standing around at a cold camp or stop, over a mid-layer, when dry
- Winter hill days where a heavier, warmer down layer is acceptable
Strengths
- 750-fill RDS-certified goose down, with more fill and larger baffles than the earlier Thorium Hoody (Arc'teryx)
- Insulated hood that is helmet compatible; two-way front zip; fleece-lined hand pockets and two internal dump pockets
- Regular, boxier fit made for layering
- PFAS-free DWR on shell and lining
Weaknesses
- 598 g in size M, 83 g heavier than the earlier Thorium Hoody's listed 515 g
- Warmth, damp performance and durability aren't scored: no independent test of the 2026 jacket found yet
- No packed size published, and Arc'teryx does not state the fill weight
- Not waterproof (DWR finish only): keep it under a shell in steady rain
