Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Brightness
From maker's figures 8/10How much light it gives at full power, for finding your way in the dark. 8: Clearly better than most.
Maker's figure, 700 lumens in the Boost mode with no test standard stated: the 500–799 band (maker's figure), which is the most a figure without a test standard can score. Boost lasts 5 minutes, then drops to 350 lumens (High mode, 7 hours); the 700-lumen figure is held for more than 1 minute, so it counts. Without Boost the torch would band at 350 lumens, in the 300–499 band.
Runtime
From maker's figures 8/10How long one charge or set of batteries lasts at a level you can walk and cook by. 8: Clearly better than most.
The longest mode of 80 lumens or more is the 175-lumen Mid mode at 9 hours (maker's figure), in the 6–9.9 h band. The 350-lumen High mode runs 7 hours and the 70-lumen Low mode 12 hours, which is under 80 lumens so it doesn't count. Alpkit's launch post says up to 96 hours on lower settings; the product page gives 47 hours at most (the 2-lumen Blue mode), so the product page's figures are used.
Weight
From maker's figures 5/10How much it adds to your pack and your head. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
Alpkit lists 104 g including the strap, in the 90–109 g band.
