Why Fellkit

Most gear sites give a star rating or a list of "best" picks, and you have to take their word for it. Fellkit scores each thing that matters, out of 10, for each kind of trip, and links every score to the specs and reviews it came from.

We cover about 20 kinds of wild-camping gear, from tents and sleeping bags to waterproofs and head torches, at every price, from budget kit to the best you can buy, for UK conditions: wind, rain and cold, damp nights.

How we work

• Our scores are research-based: we gather published specs and independent tests, reviews and videos. Gear we've used ourselves on UK trips has a "Tested by us" section, and that test counts as one source.
• We use AI tools to help find and summarise sources. Every score follows our published rules, and a person from the Fellkit team reads and approves every product before it goes live.
• Where the evidence is thin, the rating is an estimate from the maker's specs, and the page says which spec it came from.

Independent

Fellkit is a small, independent UK site. We aren't owned by a shop or a brand, nobody pays to be listed, and nobody pays for a score. We earn a small commission when you buy through links marked Ad. How we make money
